Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR Camera
The Canon EOS 5D Mark III digital SLR camera was one of the most eagerly awaited cameras of the modern day and what a camera, the Canon EOS 5D MKII was worth the wait. This Canon EOS 5D MK III has been upgraded in the right places from the EOS 5D MK I. The Canon EOS 5D MK III now has 22.3-megapixel, 1.2 megapixels more than the Canon EOS 5D MK II. The Canon EOS 5D MK III has the same 61 point AF system as the flagship Canon EOS 1D-x, this has been a massive improvement on the auto focus as the Canon EOS 5D Mark II only had a total of 15 points of which nine were user selectable autofocus points and six assist points. Of the 61 autofocus points, 41 are cross type and five are dual cross type points. Canon claim that the customisable autofocus pre-sets will help the photographer when shooting more challenging subjects.
The Canon EOS 5D III HD video systems has been improved too, with more frame speeds the Canon EOS 5D MK III now shoots up to 6 frames per second where the Canon EOS 5D MK II shoots at 3.6 frames per second. When the Canon EOS 5D MK II was released it was a ground breaking videography tool, there is not as much of a revolutionary shift with the EOS 5D MK III but they have added a live view/movie switch on the rear of the camera and there is a headphones socket to help you monitor the stereo audio. The Canon EOS 5D Mark III is the first Canon DSLR to have HDR recording built into the camera. The Canon EOS 5D Mk III is now capable of recording and merging three shots to produce a high dynamic range image. The 5D MK III has an impressive burst depth of 18 raw images or 16,270 JPEGs when a UDMA (7) memory card is used.
Canon has always been known for producing one of the best SLR white balance systems and the white system in the Canon EOS 5D Mark III does not disappoint. When the Canon EOS 5D is set to the automatic, the image looks natural and retains the atmosphere of scene within the shooting conditions. One of the other main differences between the Canon EOS 5D Mark 2 and Canon EOS 5D III is that the Mark II version has two memory card ports, one for compact flash and the other for SDHC format cards. The Canon EOS 5D MK III is an outstanding camera and I am sure this will be one of the bestselling DSLR’s of this year. Professional photographers will love this camera and with the versatility of the video system you’re creative opportunities are endless.
